Crawford Haunted House

An annual tradition, Crawford hosts the Haunted House each Halloween. Residents across the house help to design the themes, decor and costumes for a house tour that brings hundreds of visitors through the building. Some residents will help to set up the floors. Others may help before with PR. Others may dive in and act in full costume throughout the Haunted House. Whether residents are participating during the event or not, this is an occasion that relies on the full participation of the house community. The Haunted House is the first major event at Crawford House after the installation of the HAC, and we use this as an opportunity to educate our house leadership in engagement, outreach, and event planning. The 2016 Haunted House included the active participation of over 90 of our residents, over 500 visitors through the house and over 11,000 views on our distinct SnapChat filter.

In keeping with our efforts to model courageous engagement, the FHOH and RA Staff are equal participants in the Haunted House, working with the HAC and often dressing up in costume throughout the festivities.

In 2017-2018, Haunted House broke its previous records for participation, with over one hundred costumed actors from the House and over 600 guests through the house that night. We additionally welcomed back previous Crawfish from the Sophomore and Junior classes to help host the event, including a three-hour long makeup workshop for residents to complete their zombie-fication.
